As per our course curriculum, half of the course credits, i.e., 12 credits, are core climate, and the other half are elective courses. Core climate course talks and discusses atmosphere, weather, climate, climate change, modeling and climate sciences etc. Students learn about the basics of climate in the first semester, and in the second semester little advanced topics. Whereas elective courses belong to the following four disciplines, i.e., Applied Mathematics/Statistics/Machine Learning/Modeling, Climate Change Mitigation and Energy Conservation, High Performance Computing and Policy (or non-engineering). Ideally, courses in the first semester should give an opportunity for students to know about these disciplines and courses in the second semester allowing them to take the advanced courses from one or two of the four elective baskets. With this in mind the following is proposed.
Elective baskets
Basket 1: Climate Monitoring, Climate Change Impact and Adaptation
Basket 2: Climate Change Mitigation and Policy
Basket 3: Climate Modelling, Data Analysis and Computing
